Cusco - Sacred Valley - Southern Route - 02 Day Machu Picchu: 7D/6N

  • Tour Description


    Day 1.-
    6:05 a.m. Depart Lima. We suggest the LAN PERU flight LP123 which arrives in Cusco at 7:20 a.m. (Another airline may have a similar flight schedule.)
    We will pick you up from the Cusco airport and drive you to Urubamba (approx. ____ hours).
    The afternoon is free for resting and to acclimate to the altitude.
    Overnight at the Sonesta Posada de Yucay hotel in Urubamba.


    Day 1 includes: Pick up from airport, transport to Urubamba by prívate vehicle and hotel.

    Day 2.-
    8:00 a.m. Private guide picks you up from your hotel and conducts your tour of the Pisaq ruins and the Pisaq market.
    Overnight at the Sonesta Posada de Yucay Hotel in Urubamba.


    Day 2 includes: Private transportation with private guide and hotel.

    Day 3.-
    8:00 a.m. Private guide picks you up from your hotel and drives you to visit the Ollantaytambo Fortress and Huilloc (a typical weaving village). At Huilloc you will also visit a school with a bilingual teaching system (Spanish-Quechua).
    1:00 p.m. Private guide escorts you by prívate vehicle to Maras-Moray (the Inca agricultural lab) and Salineras (the Inca Salt Mines which is still mined in the traditional way).
    Drive to Ollantaytambo
    Overnight at the Pakaritampu Hotel in Ollantaytambo.


    Day 3 includes: Private transportation with private guide for tours,______to Ollantaytambo and hotel.

    Day 4.-
    6:40 a.m. Board Vistadome train and travel from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Callientes (nearest town to Machu Picchu).
    8:05 a.m. Arrive in Aquas Calientes and transfer to your hotel for check in.
    8:30 a.m. Take bus up to the ruins. Guided tour of Machu Picchu citadel and the Sun Gate.
    (time?) Take bus back down to Aguas Calientes.
    Overnight at the Presidente Hotel in Aguas Calientes.


    Day 4 includes: Vistadome train ticket, round trip bus fare between Aguas Callientes and Machu Picchu, entrance to Machu Picchu with guided tour and hotel.
    (David-note that I added that a guided tour of Machu Picchu is included. Is this correct?)

    Day 5.-
    5:30 a.m. Catch the first bus to the ruins to see the sunrise, if the weather is appropriate. Visit the Inca Bridge and climb to the Wayna Picchu peak.
    3:30 p.m. Take bus back down to Aguas Calientes.
    4:50 p.m. Catch train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
    6:13 p.m. Arrive in Ollantaytambo and meet private guide for transfer back to Cusco by private vehicle.
    Overnight at the Munay Wasi Hotel in Cusco.


    Day 5 includes: Round trip bus fare between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, Vistadome train ticket, entrance to Machu Picchu, transfer by private vehicle from Ollantaytambo to Cusco and hotel.

    Day 6.-
    09:00 Private guide picks you up from your hotel and conducts private tour of Cusco and surrounding ruins, including Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman and Qengo.
    Overnight at the Munay Wasi Hotel in Cusco.


    Day 6 includes: Private transportation with private guide for tour and hotel.

    Day 7.-
    09:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and drive by private vehicle to visit the Southern route, which includes stops at Tipon (the Temple of the Water God), Oropesa (the bread town) and Pikillaqta (the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area).
    3:10 p.m. Depart Cusco airport. We suggest LanPeru flight LP034.
    4:20 p.m. Arrive in Lima
    Make flight connection to return to your country.


    Day 7 includes: Private transportation with private guide for tour and transfer to airport.
