SALKANTAY - SANTA TERESA - MACHU PICCHU, TREK FROM SNOW TO JUNGLE!
This tour program in Cyusco region gives you the opportunity of integrating the nature with the Inca archaeological complexes located in Cusco, Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley with beautiful scenery with lots of mountains, gliding Condors and Colca Canyon in the White city of Arequipa and Puno “the Folkloric Capital of Peru” with a visit to the Sacred Lake Titicaca with the UROS floating islands.
DAY 1: MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and travel by private vehicle to Mollepata Village. A 3-hour walk will take us to Cruzpata, where we will have lunch with panoramic view of beautiful snow-capped mountains (Humantay 4120m/13500 ft. and Salcantay 6271m/20575ft, the highest and coldest campsite of the trip). Along the way we will enjoy the beautiful landscape, campsite in Soraypampa.
DAY 2: FABULOUS SALKANTAY
We will have early breakfast at around 5:30 a.m. and begin our walk to the highest pass on this trek (4650m/15200ft) located half way between two huge mountains -Salccantay on the right and Tucarhuay on the left. The views of the two snow-capped mountains from the pass are incredible and impressive. There is a possibility of snow there.
After a short rest, we will continue our walk (downhill) through a dramatic cloud forest towards Huayracpunku, where we will have lunch. After lunch, we hike again along the route towards the jungle until we reach our second campsite, Colcapampa (3000m/9800ft).
DAY 3: CLOUD FOREST
After breakfast at 6:30 a.m., we begin trekking through the upper jungle, crossing the Lluskamayo River and a variety of little brooks to reach La Playa, our lunch stop is there. During this day we will pass through valleys and have wonderful views of waterfalls, tropical fruits and plants. After we reach our camp site in Santa Teresa (1500m/4905ft) with a warm climate, we will go to the hot springs and enjoy the well-preserved pools with clean water!.
DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES
After breakfast at 8:00 a.m., we will leave our campsite and Santa Teresa district. We will cross the Santa Teresa bridge and follow the upward route of the river. We continue walking, passing a variety of crop plantations, including coca and banana, until we reach the hydroelectric station. At about 4 p.m. we will catch the train to Aguas Calientes, where we will overnight in a hotel.
In Aguas Calientes you can just relax or enjoy the thermal springs in town, a real treat after finishing the trek! (Admission to the thermal springs is not included in tour price.)

DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU
After breakfast at 06:00 a.m., we will catch a bus to Machu Picchu citadel(30 minutes ride) in order to appreciate the magnificent city as the sun is rising and before other tour groups arrive.
Your guide will give you a walking tour (approx. 3 hours). Then you are free to explore this mysterious city on your own. After visiting Machupicchu you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes in order to take the train to Ollantaytambo train station and transfer you to Cusco.
